Q1: What are the requirements for joining The Directory of Educators?
A1: For all peer groups but aspiring teachers, to join The Directory of Educators, you must be employed in or serve a school and/or district or county at the time you initially subscribe and each time you renew your annual subscription. Leaves of absence, interim and acting staff appointments, and per diem or contracted services status will not prohibit or discontinue subscription to the Directory. For aspiring teachers, to join The Directory of Educators, you must be enrolled in or have completed a related preparation program.
Q2: Is there a verification process?
A2: Members of Shaping Educational Excellence, LLC, reserve the right to conduct random checks to verify that subscribers are serving in the capacities they identify on profile pages. This may include a telephone call or e-mail to the subscriber at his/her place of work. Albeit a brief disruption or nuisance, this measure is taken to safeguard the privacy of all subscribers.
Q3: Can I join more than one peer group?
A3: Subscribers may join more than one peer group if the respective subscriber has multiple job assignments such as Child Study Team member and teacher, Principal and Superintendent, and Supervisor and teacher. The cost to join each peer group is $5.00, which equates to a $10.00 subscription fee for the year for those who join both the Principal and Superintendent group (by way of example). For those subscribers with multiple job assignments, it is their decision as to which peer group or groups to join.
Q4: Can I change peer groups during the same subscription year?
A4: In the event a subscriber has a change in job assignment during the subscription year, he/she may join an additional peer group or groups at the cost of $5.00 each. Doing so will not discontinue access to the initial peer group subscription for the subscription year.
Q5: What kind of information will I be asked for on my profile page?
A5: Profile pages include the following, as applicable: first name, last name, state subscriber works in, county subscriber works in, demographic, size, and type of school and/or district or county, job assignment particulars (e.g., content areas, grade levels, areas of responsibility), total years in education, telephone number, e-mail address, "I can share what I know about" open ended field, and "I am interested in learning more about" open ended field. Of particular importance, nearly every data field includes a drop down menu, and there is no discussion board within the Directory.
Q6: What if I work for more than one school and/or district or county?
A6: Subscribers who are employed in more than one school and/or district or county will be required to develop their profiles to reflect one of their places of employment. In the open ended data fields, additional information or clarification can be provided regarding their other places of employment.
Q7: Can I request a refund?
A7: Shaping Educational Excellence, LLC, does not honor requests for refunds specific to annual Directory subscriptions.
